Orthopedics & Sports Medicine

If joint or muscle pain is preventing you from participating in your favorite activities, or if an injury has sidelined you from the game of life, MCMC’s Orthopedic Surgeon, Joyce Tarbet, MD, provides comprehensive orthopedic care to all ages for a broad range of orthopedic problems including:

  • Joint pain and/or stiffness
  • Difficulty in movements from walking/running to reaching for objects or sitting/standing
  • Discomfort with day-to-day activities
  • Injuries from broken bones, fractures, dislocations, sprains
  • Muscular issues including pulls or tears to ligaments and tendons
  • Back pain

What is Orthopedics?

Orthopedics deals with the cause, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of injuries that may occur to muscles, bones and joints, negatively impacting mobility. Muscles cross from bone to bone, spanning the joints. With the support of ligaments and tendons around the joint, contracting muscles pull the bones and produce a specific range of movement. When injury occurs to any one of these areas, many are affected.
