Nurses week comes around every year in May and we take this time to appreciate our nurses here at MCMC. This year has been labeled the “Year of the Nurse” in honor of Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday. And what a year it has been already. The year 2020 will always be remembered with the COVID-19 pandemic that has hit the world. During this pandemic nurses were asked to step up to the front lines to care for these patients, not knowing the full impact of all that COVID-19 entailed. Rural nursing, which is us here in Murray County, is one of the most amazing nursing fields there is. Our nurses need to be ready for every single thing that walks through our doors and they often meet those patients with limited resources. They need to be able to think quickly in order to deliver the best possible care for our patients. Nursing is not just a “profession,” it is a calling and a way of life. Our MCMC nurses are here for you, 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, to care for you, to answer your questions, and to be here for YOU in your most desperate hour of need. If you know a nurse, take some time to show your appreciation for them and their servant hearts.
